Marisol Barrios Perez, MSPA, APR
Telling stories, inspiring readers, and empowering individuals to take action is what Marisol Barrios Perez, MSPA, APR is committed to doing for nonprofits. Marisol has 25 years of successful experience in communications, public relations, and the nonprofit sector. Marisol generates strategic planning, public relations and social media efforts, appealing to target audiences by implementing GRACE, a five-step process in public relations to transform missions. Marisol has appeared on several Spanish television talk shows, landed several articles in major metropolitan newspapers like New York Times, The Los Angeles Times as well as broadcast media features, and has received eight PR awards.
As the former senior director of communications and marketing for Hillsides, a premier provider of behavioral health care in Pasadena, Marisol led the nonprofit’s communications efforts through its rebranding, centennial celebration, numerous capital campaigns, and merger. Marisol’s responsibilities included strategic planning, execution, and management of external and internal communications, including crisis communications, risk management, and marketing communications.
She is an adjunct lecturer at two California State Universities, teaching communications and nonprofit management courses. She serves as the chair of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles Communications Program Group and is a board trustee of Neighborhood Youth Association. She is a member of the Forbes Communications Council and Public Relations Society of America.

Bernie Gore, M.Ed.
Bernie Gore oversees the fundraising and event management for Mission Driven PR, Inc. Her collective near 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector spans various capacities in community resources, development and finance. She worked at Hillsides, a premier provider of behavioral health care in Pasadena from 2001-2006 in the financial and community resources departments, and then took time off to have three children before returning to Hillsides in 2014 to serve as special events manager for Hillsides’ Advancement Services department. In this position, Bernie was responsible for organizing a full calendar of events at Hillsides that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. The largest event of the year is Hillsides Annual Gala, Bernie managed the logistics involving all vendors, guests, facilities and supplies for all agency related fundraising events, non-revenue generating friendraisers and exhibits.
Known for her charisma and effervescent personality with strong people skills, Bernie focuses on cultivating personal connections with donors and volunteers. Bernie builds meaningful relationships with clients and fosters the community feel to assist her in successful fundraising and community outreach efforts.
Bernie is mission driven and believes passionately in playing an active role in various philanthropies. Bernie and her husband, Kevin, sit on the Board of Directors for Save the Heartbeat, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of those suffering from Congenital Heart Disease as well as advocating for early detection in utero. She also serves on the Save the Heartbeat Gala Committee, Hillsides Annual Gala Committee, Social Co-Chair of H100 Board and Hillsides Guild member. Bernie is also very active at her Alma Mater at St. Lucy’s Priory High School and her Faith Community at her home parish, St. Dorothy Catholic Church. Bernie holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in management from University of California, Irvine, and a master’s degree in education from the University of La Verne.
